Asian Market Updates, Stocks to Buy Today on 28 November 2013


Asian equity markets followed Wall Street shares higher on Thursday but the mood could be quiet with US markets shut for the Thanksgiving holiday.

China's Shanghai Composite climbed 16.51 points or 0.75 percent to 2,217.58 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 146.08 points to 0.61 percent to 23,952.43.
Japan's Nikkei 225 Average rallied 180.48 points or 1.17 percent to 15,630.11 and Singapore's Straits Times spiked 24.85 points or 0.78 percent to 3,196.91.
South Korea's Seoul Composite was up 12.67 points or 0.62 percent at 2,041.48 and Taiwan Weighted advanced 63.62 points or 0.77 percent to 8,359.50.
Meanwhile, upbeat economic data overnight helped the Dow and S&P 500 closed at fresh record highs, while the Nasdaq ended at its highest level in over thirteen years. Fewer Americans than expected filed applications for jobless benefits last week, while a private gauge on consumer sentiment topped estimates for November.
Meanwhile, the euro strengthened to a four-year high against the yen after Germany's two major parties formed a grand coalition and pledged fresh reforms.

At 09:25 AM: Sensex was at 20,688.62 which up by 289.20 points or 1.42 per cent. It touched a high of 20,701.03 and a low of 20,570.59 in early trade today.

The Nifty was at 6,137.85, up 81.70 points or 1.35 per cent. It touched a high of 6,143.60 and a low of 6,110.40 in trade today.
The market breadth was positive on the BSE with 758 gainers against 240 losers.
The foreign institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 970.03 crore while domestic institutional investors were net sellers worth Rs 410.81 crore on Thursday as per the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
The Asian markets surged higher taking cues from the Wall Street as market mood turned bullish on hopes that the US Federal Reserve will continue with its quantitative easing program.
The Nikkei 225 index was up 0.11 per cent,
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index surged 2.17 per cent,
Shanghai Composite rallied 1.39 per cent and
Kospi index 0.30 per cent higher.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 85.48 points, or 0.54 per cent, at 15,961.70. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 7.56 points, or 0.42 per cent, at 1,798.18. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 13.23 points, or 0.33 per cent, at 3,985.97.

Nifty Sensex Closing Today with Top NSE/BSE Gainers and Losers


The Nifty extended intraday losses and closed above intermediate support of 6,200 mark as institutional investors stayed away from 'expensive' largecap stocks after the recent rally.

The 50-share index ended at 6,214.50, down 38.65 points or 0.62 per cent. It touched a high of 6,269.70 and a low of 6,208.70 in trade today.

The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 20,889.06, down 85.73 points or 0.41 per cent. It touched a high of 21,045.38 and a low of 20,861.42 in trade today.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was down 0.17 per cent and the S&P BSE Smallcap Index gained 0.76 per cent.

Among the sectoral indices, the S&P BSE Realty Index was down 2.01 per cent, the S&P BSE Bankex was 1.97 per cent lower and the S&P BSE Metal Index slipped 1.31 per cent.

HDFC Bank has hiked its base rate to 10 percent which will push up the equated monthly installments (EMIs) of home loan borrowers. Other banks are likely to follow suit.

The S&P BSE IT Index was up 1.46 per cent, the S&P BSE Power Index gained 1.12 per cent and S&P BSE Healthcare Index was 0.92 per cent higher.

The market breadth was positive on the NSE with 633 gainers against 544 losers.

The foreign institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 162.53 crore while domestic institutional investors were net sellers worth Rs 683.96 crore on Tuesday as per the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
